Outreach Initiatives

Our team is about more than robots. We work to make STEM easier to reach for everyone, by sharing what we learn and bringing robotics to new communities.

Our reach

We have introduced 10,000+ people to FIRST, our programs have impacted 200+ teams, and SolversLib has drawn 14,500+ visits.

Programs

  1. LEGO Robotics Classes

    100+Students taught

Our own curriculum, built from our FIRST LEGO League years, for kids entering grades 4 to 7.

Three kids building a LEGO robot at a class table
  2. Open-Source Engineering

35,000+CAD part uses by other teams

As an Open Alliance team, we publish our CAD, code, and portfolios for others to learn from. We also maintain SolversLib, currently the only public library to support swerve for FTC.

  3. Community Outreach

    1,500+Reached at live showcases

We take our robot to festivals, schools, and public events, and meet with nearby city councils and local state representatives to help everyone get access to STEM education.

In their words

Seattle Solvers’ mentorship was an important part of our success in initial competitions as they helped design our first shooter and walked us through the tricky programming that came along with it.

Ishaan K.Droid Force, FTC 23849 (opens in a new tab)

Solvers helped revive a dying swerve movement and showed me that even in FTC, so much more is possible. Seeing a group of fellow HS students accomplishing so much with complex mechanisms and software normally not seen in FTC inspired me to do the same, and allowed me to win awards and make worlds.

I didn’t know about swerve until I saw the work done on swerve. The CAD broadened my horizons on what was possible in FTC. Solvers has started the swerve journeys of many teams, reviving swerve when it was fading into obscurity.

The RISE School pilot

We piloted our full-year curriculum at a school in Tamil Nadu, India, and trained the teachers who now run the class.

We wrote it for rural schools around the world that don’t yet offer STEM education, and we’re looking to expand the program in the coming years.
